Manchester Community College to Spencer Street/Silver Lane Leg
Late morning yesterday the rain finally let up here in Connecticut, the skies turned blue, and the sun came out to play, so the girl child and I decided to head out on the trails for a little exercise, and a little leg of our 3000 mile journey from Canada to Florida. There was a 1/2 mile piece of the East Coast Greenway remaining between two of our other legs, so we walked to the nearest end to us from the MCC parking lot, walked the leg out to where Spencer St., Manchester, turns into Silver Lane, East Hartford, then back again, giving us 2 miles of walking, but only 1/2 mile to check off our big journey map. But that's OK! Every little bit counts!
Above and below: It was a beautiful day for a walk, a lovely 60 degrees. The migrating birds were plentiful and full of song in the old field growth along the trail as it left campus and in the shrubs that line the woods following the ramp to Rte 384.
Above, the girl child rescued a catapillar from the bicycle trail, and it didn't want to leave her hand.
